Internships
This feature covers all processes related to internships during studiesUsed by:
Description:
A general distinction is made between compulsory and voluntary internships. While compulsory internships are a fixed part of the curriculum and must be completed at a certain time, voluntary internships can be credited as elective modules or additional credits. Another keyword is pre-study internships, which are required as admission prerequisites; information on this can be found under aptitude tests.
Details:
If an internship is scheduled as a compulsory or elective module in the degree programme, an "Internships" course type can be configured for which students can register or be booked in. This is determined in the degree programmes basic structure on the basis of the examination regulations. Dependencies can also be determined there, for example, certain preparatory or accompanying seminars that must be attended before the internship.
There are two options for booking an internship, both of which are based on the internship database stored: Either students can book an internship themselves, as is the case with course bookings, or they are booked for an internship by supervisors after consultation. In any case, it is also possible to prioritise several desired positions.
There are also two options for the assignment of supervisors, who can either be chosen and specified by the students themselves, or assigned according to expertise.
After enrolment, the internship position appears in the student's timetable like all other courses. It has the same menu functions, for example, documents such as the internship contract can be uploaded under resources. Examination results such as internship reports and proof of attendance can also be uploaded here. The examination performances can be graded in several stages and can only be checked and/or assessed after all possible documents have been submitted.
For internships that are not included in the curriculum, you can either apply for recognition as a credit or note the internship as an additional credit. There are extra functions for internships in the credit transfer feature.
Under credit transfer, you can also apply for a reduction in the duration of the internship if you have relevant previous experience.
There are also helpful list functions for student administration: For example, all students who are currently doing an internship can be displayed, or all students who have to do an internship in the coming semester. In this way, it is also possible to see which students do not yet have an internship place and possibly help them find one.
