Recognition of academic achievements
Automated, fully digital recognition procedure for various types of academic achievements and examinationsUsed by:
Description:
The recognition of study and examination achievements, complete modules or entire semesters can take effect at various levels of the student lifecycle: When applying for a higher semester, for a second degree or even a Master's degree, for achievements outside the higher education system as well as further trainings and internships, and for international study achievements, such as after returning from ERASMUS.
Through the so-called white listing of recognitions, a rapidly growing database can be created with the help of this feature. Every credit, whether internal or external, that has been checked once, is stored. This basis makes subsequent recognition processes much faster and avoids duplicate checks. In this way, OpenCampus creates the first fully digital and fully automated recognition process. Ultimately, this not only increases the efficiency of the university, but also the international transfer of knowledge and transparency for students.
Enrolled students can submit a digital application for recognition of study and examination achievements in the personal area of their user account. An achievement that is already on the white list will then be recognised automatically.
If the corresponding achievement is not yet whitelisted, the examination of such an application can be structured in several stages. For example, it can first be submitted to subject-specific examiners for a statement and then be evaluated by the examination board. This collaboration function takes place completely digitally and the application does not have to be printed at any time. Even achievements that were not acquired in the higher education system can be transferred into the ECTS system via this recognition pathway. After a successful review, the applicant is notified digitally of the decision and the achievement is added to the white list.
It is also possible to integrate recognition procedures into various processes: For example, in the application process for a higher semester. In this way, a recognition procedure can be added to the application form itself as an additional loop. The verifying documents for the recognition check are then uploaded with the application documents.
Another buzzword is recognition of study contents in advance. For some exchange programmes, learning agreements already state before the start of the programme whether and to what extent the corresponding courses will be recognised. In this case, they are directly credited without a renewed recognition check.
