Qualitative evaluation of applications
Extensive functions for the qualitative evaluation of applications in the application selection processUsed by:
Description:
In the qualitative evaluation of applications, they undergo an intensive review process. The aim of qualitative assessments is to determine a point score that automatically ranks applications. The qualitative review focuses in particular on documents that cannot be evaluated automatically, for example the evaluation of letters of motivation or letters of reference. To do this, the evaluator goes through the application (or parts of it), all visible as one PDF. Each element is then assigned a value based on an internally stored scale. The system then automatically calculates the overall score.
There are different ways in which this qualitative check can proceed:
Details:
-
Administrative stuff evaluates the applications and assigns point scores according to internal criteria. Either this is already the entire selection process, or a pre-selection of applications can be forwarded to further selection rounds.
-
Faculty members evaluate the applications. These can either be randomly allocated, or according to specific criteria: For example, faculties may evaluate applications according to expertise. Or the applications may be allocated to supervisors based on the applicants' preferences.
-
Specific sub-processes of evaluating applications can be outsourced. For example, letters such as research exposés can be handed over to an expert committee, which evaluates them separately.
- Interviews or other types of practical examinations can follow on the basis of a pre-selection.
- All these processes can be combined in any way and can also be extended by your wishes
In the case of collaborative qualitative assessments, the applications do not have to be printed at any time, but can always be forwarded digitally as a bundled PDF document. In this way, any number of people can carry out evaluations and at the end an average of their scores is automatically calculated.
The qualitative evaluation of applications ends, when all applications have been ranked. Now the admission process follows on the basis of this ranking lists.
