This feature covers:

  • Change of field of study
  • Change of major or minor or exchange both
  • Addition of a further field of study
  • Transfer students in higher semesters
  • Transfer to an advanced or postgraduate degree program

Description:

The "Subject Changes" feature covers all types of university-internal subject changes. For example, the following processes are integrated:

Details:

Specific application forms can be stored for all these sub-processes under "Forms & Applications". Students can easily fill them online and submit them digitally to the student administration. After reviewing the application, the administrative staff can make appropriate status changes.

In addition, subject- and person-specific prerequisites can be saved for the respective applications. For example, after the third or higher semesters, proof of subject-specific academic advising must automatically be submitted when changing subjects.

A transfer to a subject with restricted admission is usually only possible if the application procedure for this degree program has already been completed and an offer of a study place is available. For such a change of subject, therefore, the condition of a letter of admission can be added.

It is also possible to have achievements from previous subjects credited when changing subjects, which makes it possible to transfer to the new subject(s) in the higher semester (also referred to as "lateral entry"). For this purpose, an application for recognition of previous achievements must also be submitted. For processing, the recognition process can be forwarded to appropriate persons for examination. Only when these confirm the admission requirements for a higher semester will the application then be processed further.

Some universities also use the transfer to advanced degree programs if students were already enrolled at the university before. This means that they do not have to go through the entire application process again, but can simply transfer to an admission-free master's degree.
