Description:

The first step in the application selection process consists of a formal review of the applications. Even before, OpenCampus automatically sorts out all incomplete applications.

Details:

The system automatically calculates a score for each application in the background. For this purpose, any evaluation scales can be configured. For example, previous experience or social commitment can give extra points. Depending on the volume of applications received, all or the highest-ranking applications can now pass through the formal check.

In the formal check, all information and especially the uploaded documents are checked. Often some applications are already sorted out here, which do not meet the quality requirements. There is also the possibility to ask applicants to submit additional documents. For this purpose, a text template can be sent to the applicant's e-mail address with just one click. In addition, a deadline for submission can be set.

Finally, each application is given the status "passed" or "rejected for formal reasons" in the formal check. The applicants will be notified of this decision by an automatic e-mail and can also view the changed status under "My Progress" in the OpenCampus portal.

The formally passed applications will now undergo a qualitative review.

In the formal review, applications are also assigned to special admission categories. These include: Non-equalized university admission, second degree, hardship cases, and, if applicable, university-specific categories such as social or professional aptitude. For such access to special admission categories the applications are extensively reviewed in the formal check. The categories have quotas, based on state law regulations. It is thus possible to automatically calculate how many applicants can be admitted from a quota. These applications then do not go through a further selection process, but are usually admitted directly. All applications that do not meet the requirements or cannot get a place on the basis of the quota are moved to the general category.
