Description:

To study a regular course part-time, a special application needs to be filled in Germany. An application for part-time study may be made for two consecutive semesters (a part-time study year), if full-time study cannot be commenced for specified reasons. Part-time study is only possible for selected degree programs. This feature provides a fully digital application process for part times studies and can automatically trigger corresponding status changes after approval:

Students can complete and submit the part-time study request form online in their personal area. The form consists of a selection list of reasons for part-time study. These can be automatically stored according to the state laws and evaluated for the Federal Office. In addition, a correspondingly required proof document can also be uploaded as a PDF in the form. Additional information can also be added or required, for example an interview with the student advisor. After an application confirmation, students can download a part-time study certificate in the user account.

Part-time students have the same membership status as full-time students, which is why tuition fees are usually unaffected.

Part-time studies can, under certain circumstances, double semester-related deadlines. The standard period of study may also be extended in this way, but at most up to a doubling of the standard period of study. According to the universities regulation, the extension of the study time can be automatically triggered by a status change to part-time studies.
