Description:
Since the Bologna-Process, the term "final thesis" has been used to refer to the bachelor's and master's theses that students write at the end of their studies and are usually the last step towards successfully completing their studies. Because final thesis usually require certain preconditions and deadlines, students must register for it before submission.
Details:
For this purpose, a specific process of registration and admission can be configured for each subject and type of thesis. Usually this is implemented by a thesis registration form students have to submit. Any categories can be requested, for example the topic of the thesis or an abstract. The application is received and checked by the examination office.
Once approved, the students will see the thesis along all other enrolled examinations in their schedule.
If (external) reviewers are selected to grade the thesis, they can automatically be notified by the given contact details in the thesis registration form. It is also possible that they have to confirm their role as reviewer of the thesis first by an automatically sent invitation link. In case of multiple reviews, an average score is calculated automatically. For more details about collaborative or multi stage grading processes see: XX.
Further forms such as deadline extension, topic change or request of withdrawal can be configured. Students will find all such forms in their personal account below "forms and special requests".
Furthermore, final papers must be stored by the examination office for a prescribed period of time. To facilitate the legal required archiving, an PDF upload field can be set up for the examination module of the thesis, where students can upload their thesis. The examination office can be granted access to this field and can store the thesis without any further manual contact to the student required.
